This is my book about Iran. About its people, fragrances and colours.
It is a book about hospitality, religion, poems and everything else Persia gave and still giving to our world.
It is a book about love for an ancient civilization with modern face, and kind people.
It is a book about life…
With them the Seed of Wisdom did I sow,
And with my own hand labour’d it to grow
And this was all the Harvest that I reap’d
“I came like Water and like Wind I go.”

I cannot recall with certainty when “Iran” stuck in my mind as a future destination. I only know that it kept popping up every time Ι prepared for a new trip.
For a while I was trying to find someone to come with me to this land where so many things happened in the past and so many things are changing every day; I was looking in vain. The choice was simple and was there from the start, I either had to go alone or I would not go at all.
Arriving at Tehran airport that March fulfilled a desire that had matured in (and along with) me. Iran was ready to give me some of the best images and experiences of my life.
I stayed there for 25 days only. I say “only” because 25 days is a really short time to assimilate the things that countries like Iran have to give you. However, it is enough time to make you promise yourself that you will be back, that this is just the beginning.
The culture and history of Iran, along with the courtesy and hospitality of the people start to absorb you the moment you set foot there. The cultural shock is so great that you can’t really enjoy your trip from the beginning, you have to become part of Iran first.
It is like a good wine, it gets better by the day. My advice to those considering a visit to Iran is not to hesitate even for a single moment – just go. Go there and let the smells and sounds of the souks
transfer you to the magical era of ancient Persia.
Enjoy the kindness and hospitality of the Iranian people. Taste the local flavors. But most of all talk to people, give them the chance to become your friends and let them show you what real Iran is…
